I absolutely LOVE my writing box - but to improve it for my personal needs we removed the brass label so my paper edges didn't hit on it - and then we removed the two little wooden posts that were inside to hold the box open which allows my notebooks to fit in with greater ease. If this was even 1cm deeper it would be better (for my needs - two notebooks stacked inside with 12 fountain pens across the back... makes it hard to shut)
I love this box. It has hardly any noticeable issues to qualify it as a second. Came with all kinds of goodies inside which was neat. (not the pens or journal) After use since purchase the only issue is the plate screwed into the top catches the edges of my books and disrupts the smooth writing surface. It would be better if this was inlaid or in a different spot on the box. Still an amazing box.
Galen leather knocks it out of the park with their wood writing box. Love the grain and space for journal storage. Amazing price you won’t regret the purchase.
Such a lovely surprise. The writing box is perfect and was well package for the trip from Istanbul. I especially enjoyed the little travel stamps and tea that was tucked in for the journey. Every person who lives an analog life deserves to purchase such a high quality gift for themselves or for a loved one. What a lasting legacy to dear Zeynep—she lives on in the beautiful craftsmanship of Galen Leather.
This writing box is stunning! I was expecting a minor scratch or two since I was getting it as a "2nd" with a discount, but this came out of the box without a single flaw. It feels stable when using the legs that make the writing surface angled, and I found the metal plate to be effective as a rest for my A5 notebook. Granted, my notebook is not terribly thick (Oasis 80 sheet), so bigger notebooks might slide off.
I plan to gift my 2 children with a Writer's box each... as they both have creative pursuits and I am enjoying mine so very much. I ordered the seconds with the carry strap, to try and keep the cost down, but there is nothing obviously "second" about them! As I fill them with random little bits and bobs in preparation for Christmas, I look forward to watching them enjoy such a beautifully made piece of kit.

I just received mine! I already love it! The wood grain is gorgeous, the fittings are beautiful, the angle, when set up, is perfect for writing and reading. I had to search for the flaw that made it a second, and it's so minor I probably would never have noticed. Thank you so much!
Whatever it is that makes this box a "second" is invisible to me. I love it and love to use it. I am a keen letter writer and it is perfect to store the pens, papers, stamps and all that, and it props open at the perfect angle to write. And the packaging from Galen is always a joy. Thank you my friends.
I love this box. I travel, and this is the perfect "desk" for me. If this is seconds, I can't imagine what the "firsts" look like. Perfect desk.
Most of the items are handmade to order and usually take a minimum of 1-2 weeks to dispatch. Out of stock items mean, not in the production cycle and generally re-stocking in a few weeks. Shipping
We ship worldwide. All items are sent via our shipping partners UPS/Fedex. Your items may need to be signed for upon receipt.
Due to security reasons, we cannot ship to PO boxes.
Some items are ready for shipment in our workshop, located in Istanbul. In stock items dispatch within 6-7 working days after payment has cleared using our shipping partners, UPS & FedEx. If the item is not in stock, then we will need to make your order.
Deliveries to USA addresses will take 3-4 days. For the UK and Europe, 2-3 days. To Australia, 6-7 days. For the rest of the world, expect a maximum of 7 working days. Plus production times.
- Buyers are responsible for customs duties. There are no additional taxes for goods being delivered to the USA.
- European Union : New rules after 1 July 2021; we charged VAT for orders up to 150€. It means no hidden or extra customs fees during the delivery. Orders more than 150€ subject to customs same as before.
- UK : Orders are subject to VAT. Around %20 percent. + courier fees.
- Brazil: Due to high taxes, we suggest to use a redirecting service like Regarding redirecting services, I've been using fishisfast.com
- Most countries, except the USA, are subject to VAT (value added tax) and customs duties. These are the responsibility of the recipient. Since rates vary by country and by what was ordered.

Returns - Cancellations
- Items (except personalized items) can be returned for a full refund within 7 days of receipt. Buyer is responsible for the Shipping costs. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have before placing an order.
- Due to all items are made to order, after receiving your order, we immideatly start to make your items. We don't accept cancellations/changes after orders placed.

- The Monogram default position will be on the front right bottom corner. Up to 3 characters.
- Up to 3 characters you can personalize your item with ; A....Z Capital letters 0....9 numbers . , & ! # - _ @ / : * punctuation.
- Font and height, the default for this listing is Times New Roman, 1 cm high, same as the lead picture.
