AI Policy
At Galen Leather, we live and breathe the world of analog tools — handmade leather goods, pen cases, notebooks, and accessories designed for writers and dreamers. We celebrate the human touch: the pen strokes, the imperfections of leather, the personality of handwriting.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is part of today’s reality, and we believe it is important to be transparent about how and where we use it — and where we don’t.
Where We Do Not Use AI
Our creative processes remain completely human. We never rely on AI for:
- Designs – our concepts are drawn and developed by people (though we use traditional tools and machines in production, such as stitching machines and cutters).
- Images – product photography, illustrations, and visuals are created by real people.
- Videos – storytelling is crafted, filmed, and edited by our team.
- Social Media Content – our posts, captions, and stories are written from our own experiences and voices.
Even our thank-you cards we send with orders are handwritten — a small but important reminder that we value authenticity.
Where We Do Use AI
We acknowledge that AI can be a helpful tool in the background, especially as a global company working in multiple languages. We use AI to support:
- Correcting, rewriting, and formatting emails, messages, and product descriptions (since English is not our native language, to grammalize, polish, and structure — but never fully written by AI).
- Basic translations for communication.
- Content ideas during brainstorming.
- Internal reports and summaries to make our workflow smoother.
- Web store code development and technical problem-solving.
- General office work such as formatting and organizing information.
Our Philosophy
We believe balance is key. It would not be honest to say we never use AI — but it is equally important to say that AI has no role in the soul of Galen. Our designs, products, photography, and voice remain deeply human.
AI helps us behind the scenes, but it will never replace the craftsman’s hand, the writer’s words, or the spirit of analog living.
