Having tolerated metal mouse pads that give a chill to both my wrist and fingers, I started hunting for a leather desk pad a few years ago. Options are sparse down in the Antipodeans—mostly synthetics and too small for both keyboard and mouse. A deep search brought me to Galen, and what a wonderful place it is; like a lost shop of yesteryear. I noticed the Seconds section, and being rather aged and secondary myself, figured why not? Great price, and good-looking real leather! Plenty of colours, too.
Checking out was a smooth process, and didn't take long at all to arrive from the other side of the world. Delivered in all the glory of a full-priced item (rolled up in a large tube, along with a welcome pack full of beautiful gifts and thoughtful letters and notes.) I was enthralled with the buying experience, and can now work many hours at my desk in complete comfort. I've told many friends all about your store, and I hope to have an excuse to buy more from you in full confidence of your quality goods. This is what you call a "second" and it's just perfect to me; just like getting older in life, visual imperfections are just signs of use and wear. May you continue to attract more happy buyers. This is a beautiful Desk Pad for good value. It covers half my desk, which is what I wanted.
I guess the second grade rating in this case was because of uneven dye distribution and some "folds" in the surface. Also, there's a small blue ink line. I love the tactile feel of the uneven leather, which only the upper part of the pad displays. I haven't yet greased the leather, but I guess some of the colour will even out afterwards.
I'm very happy with this purchase! I also love the element of surprise of ordering from the Seconds section.
the mat is lovely and I do like it very much. However there is one problem I'd wished I'd known beforehand. I did purchase a "second", so I knew it would have scratches, imperfections, etc., I just didn't know it would have a hole in it. the hole is small, but I probably should have just gotten the regular version instead.
I recently picked up a this leather desk pad, and I have to say—it’s exactly what I was looking for. Yes, it came with a few scratches, but that’s part of the charm. The natural wear and patina give it character and a sense of history you just don’t get with something brand new.

Although these were “seconds” they are both (black and natural) beautiful. Barely noticible if any flaws. I’ll use these on my glass topped desk. A perfect surface for writing letters - ever so slightly cushioned! I’d highly recommend these. A perfect alternative to classic desk blotters which tend to be smaller and restrictive. I love Galen Leather’s products!
I bought Crazy Horse Tan in the large size. It is ideal for my rather large desk. It was a second, but the only defect was scar tissue on the leather. I prefer this. My mouse is scratching the leather rapidly, but it will probably be fine.
I'm very happy with my purchase. It was supposed to have a defect, but I couldn't even see it!
In the meantime, the pad is gradually showing more character. I have cats, and they tend to scratch things a bit, but unlike with a synthetic pad, I am not bothered by the marks they leave.
I recommend this lovely product to anyone looking for a desk pad.
Perfect size, only small dents

Shipping
We ship worldwide. All items are sent via our shipping partners UPS/Fedex. Your items may need to be signed for upon receipt.
Due to security reasons, we cannot ship to PO boxes.
Some items are ready for shipment in our workshop, located in Istanbul. In stock items dispatch within 6-7 working days after payment has cleared using our shipping partners, UPS & FedEx. If the item is not in stock, then we will need to make your order.
Deliveries to USA addresses will take 3-4 days. For the UK and Europe, 2-3 days. To Australia, 6-7 days. For the rest of the world, expect a maximum of 7 working days. Plus production times.
- Buyers are responsible for customs duties. There are no additional taxes for goods being delivered to the USA.
- European Union : New rules after 1 July 2021; we charged VAT for orders up to 150€. It means no hidden or extra customs fees during the delivery. Orders more than 150€ subject to customs same as before.

- Items (except personalized items) can be returned for a full refund within 7 days of receipt. Buyer is responsible for the Shipping costs. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have before placing an order.
