Möbius und Ruppert
The company forefather, Theodor Paul Möbius, was the first to industrially manufacture a sharpener. The company was founded in 1922 and since then, they have continuously carried this innovative spirit along. Their premium products are made in Erlangen in the heart of the European pencil industry.
Möbius und Ruppert is owned and led by the fourth family generation and employs 75 people. Their range of sharpeners has continuously expanded over the years. They are most well known for manufacturing premium products in the fields of school, office, and leisure activities and are exported to 75 countries worldwide.
The company ancestor Theodor Paul Möbius, brother of one of the two later company founders, was the first to industrially manufacture a sharpener in 1908. We have continued this inventive spirit since the company was founded in 1922: with branded products made in Erlangen - in the heart of the European pencil industry.
In 1922
Alfred Möbius and Heinrich Ruppert founded the company "Möbius + Ruppert". In the north of Erlangen they rent rooms and initially produce pencil sharpeners made of synthetic resin, magnesium and zinc die-cast with 20 employees.
In 1929
Möbius + Ruppert relocated the company headquarters to the Erlangen "Wöhrmühle", which has not changed until today.
1965
Product diversification progresses and the range is expanded to include drawing instruments.
1997
Paper cutting machines for the private and technical sector are added to the range as a third product category.
2013
Möbius + Ruppert is certified according to the ISO 9001: 2008 standard for the first time
2016
After more than 65 years in the service of Möbius + Ruppert, Dipl.-Ing. Ernst Fischer, who, as the grandson of the company founder Alfred Möbius, had a decisive influence on the company's fortunes for decades, took over as managing director for reasons of age in the course of the company's succession. At the same time Möbius + Ruppert will continue to operate as a GmbH & Co. KG and Dipl. Kffr. Julia Fischer and Dipl.-Ing. Ulrich Fischer, great-grandson of the company's founder Alfred Möbius, will now act as the company's managing director.
2017
Möbius + Ruppert is certified according to the updated ISO 9001: 2015 standard as part of a surveillance audit.
Today
Möbius + Ruppert employs 60 people. The product range has also been continuously expanded. The branded products for school, office and hobby are exported to over 75 countries worldwide.
