About Galen Leather

Galen is a family company, based in Istanbul-Turkey. Sadly, the founder of company Zeynep passed away in July 2019. Her brother (Yusuf) and husband (Yunus) are lovingly carrying on her legacy and devotion to beautiful, quality handmade products. You can read our story here.

Designed and handmade in Turkey, our products add a touch of luxury to your travels and provide the guarantee of a long lasting accomplice you can trust to last the test of time while on the road.

Our journal covers and writing sets will transport you back to a time where no traveller would dare leave on a journey without a leather-bound notepad and ink pen to jot down their thoughts and memories. Our focus is mainly on making leather journal covers compatible with Moleskine, Rhodia, Leuchtturm1917 and Field Notes brands.

While we may share your nostalgia for the romantic notion of putting pen to paper, we also embrace modern technology with the changing of time. And so, we created our line of laptop and tablet cases too.

Humble Beginnings

Founded in 2012, we started as a two person team based in Istanbul, Turkey, with a humble hobby making small leather goods. We can trace back our memory to the very first item we ever produced; a simple journal cover. Fast forward several years, and we've been fortunate to turn this passion into a thriving business. We love working with all natural aging materials like leather, brass and wood. There's something magical about the ability of these natural materials to majestically absorb time, only to turn more beautiful with age.

Galen is the name of the our favourite precious stone and also, the more commonly referred name of the famous philosopher, Claudius Galenus, who was born in Pergamon (present day Bergama,Turkey - the famous city of the leather)

When you purchase a leather good on the internet, we understand it's not easy to fully grasp the feeling of the beautiful leather, the earthy smell of the vegetable tanned leather, and the details of our signature hand-stitching and smooth hand finishes around the edges.

But we promise, you will receive exactly what you see in the pictures; items, which, we have made and personalized for you. Produced with traditional methods, our covers and cases will protect your hi-tech valuables and writing instruments from the elements.
